The roots of Umhlali Country Clubs tennis section go all the way back to 1919, long before the 5 courts were erected in 1961 when the club was formed. The sixth court was built a few years later.

The bottom 3 courts have recently undergone a revamp and floodlights have been added, the floodlit courts provide an opportunity to play tennis after sunset.

For those interested in competitive tennis, the tennis committee regularly arranges championship round-robin tournaments and league games. Social tennis is also arranged by the committee on Saturday afternoons. Alternatively ladies team practices are every Monday morning and men’s social tennis is played every Tuesday afternoon.
